Moldovan, British officials approach bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, March 16 / MOLDPRES / - President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met with Britain's Foreign Minister James Cleverly, who is on a visit to Chisinau.
According to the presidential press service, the officials discussed the security situation in the region and Moldovan-British cooperation.
"The United Kingdom supports us in modernizing the defense and customs sectors, and in combating border trafficking, and helps us maintain stability and order in the country. We appreciated the support provided by the British government for good governance programs in our country, which promote anti-corruption policies, improve the business environment, justice reform, banking and energy sectors. The United Kingdom contributes to the development of civil society and independent media in Moldova, and in the face of hybrid attacks generated by Russia, we want to work together to combat disinformation," the head of state said.
Maia Sandu also discussed with Minister James Cleverly the signing of the agreement for mutual conversion of driver's licenses, as well as commercial cooperation. "We want to increase access of Moldovan products to the UK market and to increase the volume of investments in Moldova. I would like to thank Minister Cleverly for the package of 10 million pounds to support the country's economic development and increase energy independence," the head of state said.
