Chisinau, March 17. /MOLDPRES/- Anti-Corruption Court could be set up in Moldova. The request came today from President Maia Sandu in a speech held in Parliament.
The President said that the state institutions will not allow the citizens' trust to be violated by some corrupt judges and prosecutors.
"The changes that have started in justice are correct and will fulfill their purpose, to have independent judges in the system. The resistance in the system to this cleaning was to be expected. The corrupt, those accustomed to bribery don't want to change their temper or even more so be punished for what they did, but that won't stop us. For Moldovans, justice is essential, however complicated it may be, we will complete the cleansing of justice. High-level corruption is the greatest danger to Moldova. We owe it to the citizens to punish the corrupt and stop them from controlling our country. I ask the Parliament and the Government to create Anti-Corruption Court - a specialized court to investigate cases of corruption in the justice system. We don't have time to let the corrupt in the system indefinitely postpone their own cleaning", Sandu said.
She said that the year 2023 will be one in which Moldovans will start to believe in themselves, and those who complain that nothing is possible become fewer and fewer. "The year 2023 will be about a Moldova that rises and becomes strong, about our citizens who unite and work to bring the European Union home", she said.
