Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - The agreement on the de jure and international guarantees for the free and independent work of the Mir Television and Radio Company might be denounced. The members of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration approved an initiative to this effect today.
The initiative belongs to the government and is aimed at protecting the national audiovisual space and at ensuring the information security, taking into account the situation dealing with regional security and the danger to the national security, caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Mir is a media structure of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and founder of the TV stations Mir TV and Mir 24, which has no broadcasting licence issued by the Audiovisual Council and, respectively, is not provider of media services under Moldova’s jurisdiction. Presently, the rebroadcasting of these TV stations is suspended on the period of the emergency state.
The decision on the denouncing of the international treaty for the work of the Mir Television and Radio Company will be proposed for adoption in the parliament’s plenum.
