Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets Latvia's parliament speaker

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with Latvian Parliament Speaker Edvards Smiltēns, on an official visit to Moldova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, the officials discussed the progress made by the authorities in terms of Moldova’s accession to EU. In the context, the Latvian speaker expressed his country’s continuous support for Moldova’s European integration and highlighted the importance of continuing the reforms.
The sides also discussed the domestic situation and the one in the region.
„I noted that the authorities permanently work to ensure the peace and stability in the region,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
At the same time, the officials appreciated the positive dynamic of the Moldovan-Latvian relations and discussed the ways of deepening the bilateral dialogue in sectors of mutual interest.
In the end, the interlocutors referred to the preparations for the Summit of the European Political Community, due to be hosted by Moldova on 1 June 2023.
