Euro to appreciate against Moldovan leu

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - The single European currency will appreciate by 0.12 lei in the next week-end and will have a quotation of 20.21 lei, according to data by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).    

At the same time, the U.S. dollar will cheapen by 0.03 lei to 18.58 lei.    

As for the Romania leu, BNM established an exchange rate of 4.10 lei, up by 0.02 lei against today. The Ukrainian hryvnia will preserve the value of 0.50 lei and the Russian rouble will cost, in continuation, 0.24 lei.     

According to BNM data, in last February, the degree of coverage of the net demand of current on behalf of economic agents through net supply of currency from private people stood at 94.6 per cent, against 143.4 per cent in January 2023. Against the month before, the net supply of currency from private people decreased by 97.3 million dollars (-41.4 per cent) and the net demand of currency on behalf of economic agents dropped by a smaller sum – 18.3 million dollars (-11.2 per cent). In these conditions, BNM intervened on the local interbank market in the first half of the month, amid the formation of a surplus of currency, through net purchasings amounting to 12 million dollars.    .
