Chisinau Circus building's conservation works started

Chisinau, March 24 /MOLDPRES/- The construction company selected following the tender launched by UNDP has started the repair work on the roof of the Circus in Chisinau.

According to the EU Delegation to Chisinau, the Circus building has a special architectural value, and last year it was included in the Register of monuments protected by the state.

The rehabilitation work carried out in the first stage could be completed by late 2023, depending on weather conditions as well as other factors such as raw material supply logistics.

The European Union, through the Confidence-Building Measures program, implemented by UNDP, allocated over 1.8 million euros, which covered the costs for detailed technical expertise, design and for repair/conservation works in the first stage. They will prevent the degradation of the Circus building due to external factors.

The estimated cost for the completion of all conservation works of the entire complex would be over 11 million euros. This could be achieved in the future through the national budget or additional funding from development partners.
