Three road bridges between Moldova and Romania to be modernized

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - Three road bridges making connection between Moldova and Romania will be modernized. Today, the members of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration gave a positive note to the starting of negotiations with Romania, in order to conclude agreements to this end.

Thus, the road bridges Leuseni-Albita, Cahul-Oancea and Sculeni-Sculeni, constructed between 1958 and 1964, and which are presently in a lamentable situation, will be rehabilitated. The technical expertise showed that all three bridges need works of replacing several elements. Moreover, defects and degradations in the construction elements were detected in the case of the Sculeni-Sculeni bridge.

Under the agreements, Romania will finance the modernization and maintenance of the bridges on its territory and Moldova will be in charge of the repair and maintenance of the segments on its territory.
