Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with delegation of top European bank

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, has received a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by EBRD Vice President for Policies and Partnerships Mark Bowman, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The officials discussed EBRD projects in Moldova, the priorities as to the financing and assistance. Nicu Popescu welcomed the emphasis put by the Bank to support the initiatives which get Moldova closer to the European Union.
„I also stressed the key role of the Bank in Moldova and appreciated the EBRD’s record financing from the last year, including in the private sector; this helped us maintain the economy functional, in the context of the negative effects of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
A loan worth 300 million euros was used for the purchasing of gas, which allowed Moldova to keep the heating in homes and easier survive the last winter.
We will continue the partnership with EBRD, in order to strengthen the energy security, invest in infrastructure, stimulate the trade and develop the private sector,’’ the Moldovan official said.
