Chisinau, March 30 /MOLDPRES/- The reform of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) was voted by the Parliament in the second reading, during today's plenary session. The draft law was voted by 63 deputies.
The document provides for the reorganization of the CSJ, including the revision of the powers of the Supreme Court of Justice. Also, a project was developed to modify the procedure for examining cases by the CSJ. Thus, the Supreme Court of Justice will have more limited powers and will not act as an appeals court, as it currently does.
Among the most important provisions of the document is reducing the number of CSJ judges. Also, the composition of the Supreme Court of Justice will be changed by ensuring access to the positions of CSJ judge for representatives of other legal professions, such as lawyers, prosecutors or university professors in the field of law.
