Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets Ambassador of Ireland

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, has received Bucharest-based Ambassador of Ireland to Moldova Paul McGarry, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The diplomats discussed the progress made by the authorities in the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations and the aligning with the EU acquis. They highlighted also the government’s efforts to implement the structural reforms, the goal of which is to improve the citizens’ living conditions and the country’s economic development. In this respect, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu appreciated the firm support of the Dublin authorities for the process of Moldova’s accession to EU.
„We agreed to speed up the negotiations on more social agreements, from which our citizens who live in Ireland will benefit. We also spoke about the importance of starting the negotiations on facilitating the visa regime.
Given the return of the Chisinau International Airport to the state’s management, I expressed the Moldovan authorities’ wish to extend the services of the Irish low-cost air companies, especially Ryanair, on the aviation market of Moldova.
We also discussed preparations for the Summit of the European Political Community, due to be hosted by Moldova on 1 June this year,’’ The Moldovan official said.
