Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRE – President Maia Sandu, along with her Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as other heads of state and government, today went to Bucha to commemorate the victims of the massacre which had occurred one year ago, the presidential press service has reported.
„I have returned to this place, in order to honour the innocent victims – men, women, parents and children – hundreds of people killed, many others raped and tortured with an unimaginable cruelty. Nobody believed that the horrors about whom we had read in the history textbooks can take place now too, on our continent, just in the neighbour country. These crimes against mankind must be stopped and punished!,’’ the Moldovan head of state said.
The Moldovan president noted that Moldova remained with Ukraine and its people. ‘’We have been with the Ukrainian people since the first moments of the war – and we will remain the same way, until each Ukrainian is able to return home, in safety. As this brutal war continues, we stay firm in condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Along with the democratic states, we choose to remain on the side of the free world. We believe in Ukraine’s victory in its fight for existence as nation, with the reestablishment of its territorial integrity. And we ask for Justice – without Justice, we cannot have Peace! Слава Україні (Glory to Ukraine!)!’’ President Maia Sandu said.
