Chisinau, April 3 /MOLDPRES/- We managed to do justice in Chisinau International Airport case. We will succeed, despite the obstacles, despite the resistance from some corrupt judges, to do justice in the other cases as well. President Maia Sandu made the statements at a today's briefing at the airport.

According to the president, the airport was returned to the state and thus justice was done to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who receive back this state asset.

"I request the state institutions to ensure that the property taken over is inspected and the irregularities are investigated. I request that the fee of EUR 9 per passenger be revised, as reducing it. I ask the Airport administration to ensure best operation from now on, so that citizens can benefit from more routes to more destinations, at affordable prices. The airport is not a simple state asset, it must become a regional one, which provides the necessary infrastructure for Moldova to connect more with the European economic space. And the justice institutions must ensure that all persons involved in this theft are punished according to the law. I am convinced that in the coming years we will succeed in building a European justice system and a European infrastructure. This is the path we have all chosen together", said Maia Sandu.

Chisinau Airport was given a concession in 2013, based on a public-private partnership. The concession company has committed to manage the airport for 49 years and to invest 250 million euros in its modernization. But it did not meet its contractual obligations and did not fulfill the investment plan, being requested to terminate the concession contract.
