German Chancellor says Moldova benefits from massive international support

Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is not alone and benefits from massive international support. Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz today made statements to this effect at a news conference held jointly with Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis and President Maia Sandu.     

„During our discussions, we discussed the difficult situation in Moldova, which is part of the European family. I welcome the fact how resolutely Moldova has approached the reforms necessary for accession to EU. Moldova can be sure of our support for this way. I repeatedly assured President Maia Sandu of this fact. Moldova is not alone, but benefits from massive international support,’’ Olaf Scholz said.  

The Chancellor of Germany noted that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a state were inviolable. ‘’Russia must eventually cease this war and retreat its troops from Ukraine, in order to be able to reach a fair peace. We read with concern accounts about Russia’s attempts to destabilize Moldova. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of a state are inviolable. We back Moldova to our utmost, to defend itself from these Russia’s attempts of destabilization,’’ the official also said.     

President Maia Sandu pays a visit to Bucharest today.
