We are united at EU level to provide Moldova with every needed support, Romanian President says

Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/ - Romania will always be with Moldova and we are united at the EU level in providing the country every needs support, including for strengthening its resilience and for its protection before the destabilizing actions. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis today made statements to this effect at a news conference held jointly with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and President Maia Sandu.   

„I welcome Germany’s solid involvement in the support of Moldova. We have a similar vision as to the importance of a robust financial and technical support, in order to ensure the stability and consolidate its European integration. I conveyed a clear-cut message: we will continue to be firmly with Chisinau. Moldova is not alone and this trilateral meeting proves this fact clearly. Moldova can rely on sincere friends, who have been and will always be with it,’’ the Romanian president said.

Iohannis added that Moldova ‘’undertook considerable approaches to carry out reforms, to combat corruption and strengthen the justice, in order to advance in the European integration process.’’   

„We tackled, as priority, the subject on Moldova’s European integration – the only option able to ensure a democratic, prosperous and stable future for its citizens. We had a discussion on the developments from Moldova and the challenges it faces. The Chisinau authorities must manage the consequences of the war, the increase in prices and the need of supply with energy resources for the next season. These are subjects approached, as priority, at the EU’s level as well. Moldova is in the first line facing the consequences of the war at its border and destabilization actions – all strongly felt by the citizens. Romania will always be with Moldova and we are united at the EU’s level in providing it the support necessary, including for strengthening its resilience and for the protection before the destabilization actions,’’ Klaus Iohannis also said.     

President Maia Sandu pays a visit to Bucharest today.
