Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has shown the entire world that we are a European country which contributes to a stronger Europe. President Maia Sandu today made statements to this effect in Bucharest following a trilateral meeting with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and President of Romania Klaus Iohannis.
„It is important for us that Moldova is partner of dialogue with Romania and Germany. The projects which we carry out together bring real benefits for the citizens and will anchor us strongly into the European area. Our country is protected by the shield of the Ukrainian heroes at present. Moldova is the most vulnerable neighbour of Ukraine, hit by the war, as well as by hybrid attacks orchestrated by the Kremlin, meant to weaken the determination to remain part of the free world. The support of our partners, especially of Bucharest and Berlin, is quite appreciated. We thank you for the support you prove for peace, well-being and our European future,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The Moldovan president noted that Moldova relied, in continuation, on the support of Germany and Romania for getting the initiation of the negotiations on accession to EU.
„Some people wanted Moldova to fall; Moldova stays upright. We have become stronger. We have remained on the side of the European values. Moldova has shown the entire world that we are a European country which contributes to a stronger Europe. We are not alone. This is what EU means – to have friends on whom you can count. To the great European family – this is where Moldova goes and we are grateful to you for the support provided to our way towards accession to EU. We rely, in continuation, on the guidance and support of our country for getting the starting of the negotiations on accession to EU,’’ the Moldovan head of state added.
