Business people from Moldova, Poland convene at economic forum in Chisinau

Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - A bilateral economic forum, Moldova-Poland, was organized in Chisinau today. At the event, business people from the two countries discussed opportunities of cooperation.   

The forum was organized, in order to strengthen the cooperation of the two countries in the sectors of renewable energy, road and railway infrastructure, as well as the agro-food field. The forum represents a unique opportunity for representatives of Polish and Moldovan business to meet a large number of potential partners, clients and investors, to establish and maintain business relations and discuss ideas and directions of development in strategic fields.     

At the event, the deputy director of Moldovan Investments Agency, Ion Iordachi, said the bilateral economic relations between Moldova and Poland had constantly developed in the last years and became more and more important for both countries. ‘’Last year, the bilateral trade grew by 14 per cent and reached a record sum of 425 million dollars; the imports increased by about 13 per cent and the exports – by 12 per cent. Among the top Moldovan goods exported to Poland, there are the wines and agro-food products and on top of the imports, there are the technologies, chemical products and household appliances.  Poland is also one of the most important investors in Moldova, with an investment turnover of more than 70 million dollars, in such fields as financial one, constructions or food processing,’’ the official from the Investments Agency said.      

At the forum, Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Tomasz Kobzdej presented a letter signed by Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki. ‘’Poland constantly develops the cooperation with Moldova. The most promising sectors of the Poland-Moldova bilateral cooperation can be regarded the fields of transport infrastructure, energy and agricultural sector, as well as the food one. The economic development is a key element of the preparations for the future accession to EU, besides the necessary legal adjustings. Such initiatives as the today’s economic forum will open new opportunities of cooperation with our entrepreneurs and will become a platform for the exchange of experience, bringing benefits to all participants,’’ reads the letter of the Polish prime minister.     

The Moldova-Poland economic forum is held ahead of a visit to Chisinau by Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, due on 6 April.
