Chisinau, April 6 /MOLDPRES/- The draft amendment to the Law on promoting renewable energy sources has been published for public consultation. The impact of the future changes was presented today at a press conference by State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan and Deputy Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Dirk Buschle.

The draft law is meant to solve some of the critical problems that prevent the development of the entire renewable energy sector both for the electricity component and for the use of renewable energy in transport or heating.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan said that the draft law was set up with the support of the Energy Community Secretariat and the EU4energy project. The initiative aims to prepare the necessary legal framework in order to organize tenders for large capacities of electricity generation from renewable sources, such as photovoltaic parks and wind farms. They will contribute to increasing the energy security of our country thanks to local energy production, reducing dependence on third-party sources, reducing imports, increasing private investment in the sector and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Another major package aimed at changes to the law concerns the transposition of the Clean Energy for All Europeans package or the so-called EU Energy Package IV which refers to increasing the potential for the use of renewable energy and increasing the role of consumers as energy producers, to associate in energy communities in order to actively participate in the energy market.
