The heads of the two commissions, Olesea Stamate and Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Tagarlas held a press conference today and reviewed the issues, including the justice reform and the opening of a common border control point.
"We are happy to greet you today in the context of the fourth joint meeting of the two legal commissions of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Senate of Romania. We came together to discuss topics of common interest for both countries, what concerns the justice reform in a general and practical way, those legislative aspects that can be improved on both banks of the Prut, so that justice, the judicial system to work as efficiently as possible. Today, in the first part of the meeting, we discussed several aspects related to the recent changes in the legislation, both of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, related to the justice reform, because in the afternoon let's continue working in thematic groups regarding the liberal legal professions, such as the activity of lawyers, notaries, bailiffs and judicial experts. For that meeting, we also have representatives of these professions from Romania and the Republic of Moldova present, so that practical solutions can be found to improve the activity framework of these professions in both countries", said Olesea Stamate.
The head of the Romanian legal commission, Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș said that in addition to technical legislative aspects, practical aspects are also discussed in Chisinau. "Following the discussion held at the third meeting of the two commissions, it was decided to open a joint control point at the border. On Monday, the Romanian Senate and the Chamber of Deputies also voted on the law that allows the opening of such a position. This unique control is an aspect that will determine a qualitative increase in the transport of people and goods between the two states, as well as a quickness of the transport of goods. Also, we have discussions with deputies from Chisinau on updating the legislation in the public notaries and bailiffs. Following the discussions held with colleagues from the legal commission of the Republic of Moldova, it emerged the need to broaden the spectrum of dialogue to other professions related to the act of justice, including mediators, translators and interpreters", he said.
Also today, meetings of joint working groups with lawyers, notaries, bailiffs and judicial experts will take place in Chisinau.
