Moldovan parliament launches contest for selection of three candidates for member of Superior Council of Magistracy

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament has launched the contest for the selection of three candidates for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). People interested can submit the file to participate in the contest till 5 May 2023.
Today, the members of the parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities approved a decision on the organization and holding of the contest for the selection of candidates for the CSM member office on behalf of the parliament. Among the conditions the participants in the contest should meet, there is the experience of at least ten years in the law sector and a well-known activity in the jurisprudence sector or other relevant field, lack of criminal antecedents, as well as the lack of notes as to a negative result of the professional integrity test.
The contest will be held in three stages: submission and admissibility of files, assessment of the integrity of the candidates by the special commission (pre-vetting), contest of files and the interview. The people who fail to pass the evaluation of the special commission will not be allowed to the next phase of the contest.
Under the legislation, the Superior Council of Magistracy is made up of 12 members. Six of them, who are not among judges, are appointed by parliament, with the votes of three fifths of the MPs elected. Three CSM members were appointed at the plenary meeting last week: Tatiana Ciaglic, Ion Guzun and Alexandru Postica.
