National Assembly - European Moldova to be convened in Chisinau on 21 May

Chisinau, 10 April /MOLDPRES/ - A National Assembly will be convened in Chisinau. The event will be organized on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) on 21 May. President Maia Sandu made statements to this effect today.  

The Moldovan president said that hundreds of thousands of people look how a group of corrupt people planned to steal the future of Moldova. ‘’Europe keeps an eye on us. The entire world is keeping an eye on us. Many people have a wrong impression that Moldova’s citizens look at what is happening with indifference. Many people erroneously believe that our country’s citizens are indifferent and do not take attitude. Some people still wonder whether our people really want the accession to the European Union. I suggest that we answer them, I urge you to manifest as people. The clear-cut decision to be part of the European family, based on respect, stability and economic cooperation. I urge you to show that the only master of this land is the people. I urge you to explain to those who still have doubts that the decisions on Moldova’s future are taken in Moldova. Time is ripe for the Moldovans to show that we are a resolute people, a people master in its home, a people which can defend with its chin up the democracy, peace and communities. I think that time is ripe that those who keep an eye on us, both from the East and from the Vest, should see that we are united and courageous in the decisive moments for our destiny,’’ Maia Sandu said.      

The head of state informed that she had launched the initiative to summon an assembly of citizens in Chisinau, during which ‘’we should say to the world that we are Europeans and this is the way we have chosen.’’ ‘’Let us give an answer to those who wonder what the Moldovans want? A clear-cut answer. Our voice, of many people, the voice of our people, should be heard. The National Assembly European Moldova will be organized on the Great National Assembly Square on 21 May. The voice of each one will consolidate our European way. I come up with an urge to all people who till the land, teachers, students, non-governmental organizations, entrepreneurs, physicians, culture people, private sector employees, civil servants to back our common dream together. Let us prove that we want peace. We want the European Union to be at home in our country. Just as we assembled when we demanded independence and we got it. Just as we assembled when we defended the democracy and resisted in the most difficult times,’’ Maia Sandu also said.   

„Even we have certain troubles. Even if we sometimes have different opinions, it is not the time for quarrel and division now. Now, it is time for us to unite and become part of the European family together. Great decisions are taken by people on the Great National Assembly Square. We are in a great crucial moment. What we do now will influence our lives, the lives of our children and of the next generations. On 21 may 2023, I wait you on the National Assembly – European Moldova,’’ the Moldova president added.
