Moldovan PM says government's attention focused on children as country's future

Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will continue supporting the cabinet’s efforts in ensuring the protection of children’s rights and improving their access to qualitative services. The priorities of cooperation, in order to give a prompt and efficient answer to the needs of child, have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and UNICEF Resident Representative in Moldova Maja Damaj, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

The PM appreciated the UNICEF’s support both in the process of management of the crisis of refugees from Ukraine, and in the promotion of the rights of children, teenagers and young people from Moldova. ‘’In everything we do, our attention is always focused on the needs of children, as they represent the future of Moldova. I am sure that we will contribute, along with UNICEF, to the promotion of efficient policies and programmes, in order to generate results on all segments proposed, especially in education and social assistance,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.  

For her part, Maha Damaj referred to the priority actions for the next period, the goal of which is to consolidate the system of children’s protection in Moldova. Among the objectives set, there is the efficient implementation of the digital technologies, ensuring the educational inclusion of children with disabilities, reforming the juvenile justice, as well as the creation of hygienic and sanitary conditions at the headquarters of schools. Also, the sides touched upon the need of adapting the school syllabus and developing instruments for financing the specific sectors.
