Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) has issued a commentary with the following content:
„As for the recent statements by the representative of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry on the interview by NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry specifies that Moldova’s relations with diverse international organizations, including the NATO, represent the sovereign and independent decision of our country. We do not accept such statements and interferences in Moldova’s domestic affairs.
The neutrality of our country does not mean isolationism. The authorities develop partnerships with organizations and states, in order to preserve the peace and security of the country. We remind that Moldova established a cooperation relation with the NATO back in 1992. The cooperation with this organization, including through the Partnership for Peace, continues to bring real benefits to our country, as well as the regional security. This relation is developing exclusively based on the observance of Moldova’s neutrality.
The goal pursued by the authorities is to consolidate the security of the citizens and of the state, as well as to contribute to the promotion of the regional security and the European one. Our country deepens the friendship relations will all those who support the freedom, peace and security in the region.’’
