Chisinau, April 12 /MOLDPRES/- Citizens will pay less for electricity they consume. The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved today the new tariffs. Thus, consumers in the north of the country will pay 3.58 lei for one kwh, down by 0.26 lei than at present. The price for consumers in the center and south of the country will be 2.99 lei, down by 0.43 lei than the current rate.
In the case of consumers in the center and south of the country, served by Premier Energy, the discount is about 5%, and consumers in the north of the country served by "Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord" SA will benefit from a 6% discount.
According to ANRE, the decrease in tariffs was determined in particular by cutting average electricity procurement price, the application of the exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar and the application of consumer price indices.
The decision will enter into force on the date of publication in the Official Journal.
The electricity price became cheaper after in late March Energocom signed a new contract for half a year for the purchase of electricity from the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant in the Transnistrian region (MGRES), and the procurement price is 66 dollars/ MWh, seven dollars less than in the last four months.
The last time electricity became cheaper was on January 1, 2023.
