World Bank to offer 211 million dollars to Moldova

Chisinau, April 12 /MOLDPRES/- The World Bank will provide financial support to Moldova for various social and economic programs worth 211 million US dollars. At today's meeting, members of the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration approved the initiation of negotiations to offer financial resources as grants and loans.
The budgetary support will be provided after the Ministry of Finance requested the support of the World Bank for an additional program of operations for development policies for the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, a financing agreement will be negotiated with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). As a result, our country will benefit from a loan of 100 million US dollars and a grant of 25 million US dollars. The funds will be used for the stabilization and growth of the economy, as well as for the implementation of some social and economic programs, which are part of the government's reform agenda.
Also, negotiations will be initiated for the conclusion of the Multi-Donor Trust Fund Grant Agreement between our country and the IBRD. Moldova will receive a grant of 86 million dollars, and the money will be used to finance the needs of the state budget.
