Moldovan PM participates in forum of discussions on elaboration of National Security Strategy

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - The security priorities of Moldova and the authorities’ actions, aimed at overcoming the present threats, have been analyzed at a forum titled, Strategy vision on ensuring the national security, in the context of the working out of the national security strategy, the government’s communication and protocol department reported.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean appreciated the support of foreign partners, who contribute to the development of the defence capacities. According to the PM, presently, the basic goal deals with the elaboration of the Strategy and allocating the resources needed, for Moldova to become not only consumer of security, but also provider of security, in the current regional context. The official noted that, due to Ukraine, there were no hostilities in Moldova; yet, the country is subjected to hybrid threats.
„Russia is a threat to Moldova’s security. We have had this discussion and hesitations much time; yet, now, this fact is obvious for everybody. We clearly understand the risks; we know how to allocate the resources and we have the task to develop in terms of defence,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The PM stressed the need of the society’s mobilization around the goals established and encouraged the citizens to contribute to enhancing the state’s security and to efficiently communicate about the authorities’ response to the present risks.
At a panel discussion on the response of the governmental institutions from the security and defence sectors, the speakers referred to diverse aspects on developing the institutional capacities, defence capacities, coordinating responses to crises, strategic communication, functionality of the legislation in the field, tightening the borders’ security.
The event was organized by Moldova’s Presidency, with the support of the Platform for Security and Defence Initiative (PISA) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, with the participation of representatives of power wielding ministries and institutions, as well as security experts of the civil society.
