Chisinau, April 13 /MOLDPRES/- New reduced electricity tariffs entered into force today, after the decisions approved yesterday by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) were published in the Official Journal.
Thus, consumers in the north of the country will pay 3.58 lei for one kwh, down by 0.26 lei than until now. The price for consumers in the center and south of the country will be 2.99 lei, down by 0.43 lei than the old rate.
According to ANRE, the decrease in tariffs was determined in particular by reducing the average electricity procurement price, the application of the exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar and the application of consumer price indices.
The electricity price became cheaper after in late March, Energocom signed a new contract for half a year for the purchase of electricity from the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant in the Transnistrian region (MGRES), and the procurement price is 66 dollars/ MWh, seven dollars less than in the last four months.
The last time electricity became cheaper was on January 1, 2023.
