Chisinau, April 13 /MOLDPRES/- An interactive map of development cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Germany was launched today in Chisinau.
"This map will reflect how we support the Republic of Moldova and what the priorities will be going forward. Moldova's status as a candidate country for the EU determines us to strengthen our support efforts, because we are a European family. Germany and the Republic of Moldova are connected in various ways in the political, cultural, economic and civil society fields, however, Germany remains a reliable partner of your country on the path to the European Union", Margret Uebber, German Ambassador said.
Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization mentioned the fruitful Moldovan-German collaboration and the projects carried out with the help of German cooperation, as well as other implemented initiatives. "Germany is among the main investors of our country and a hopeful supporter of the Republic of Moldova, which firmly chose the European path", Alaiba said.
The digital map will include all projects managed by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in Moldova, collaboration in current projects, as well as future ones.
"I want to assure you that together with the European Union we will continue to support the efforts of the Chisinau Government, including through the implementation of new projects. We know the areas in which you need support and we are able to meet these needs," said Claudia Hermes.
Germany's assistance to the Republic of Moldova is administered by the German Agency for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit - GIZ). The projects implemented by GIZ in Moldova are financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the KfW State Bank and other federal ministries. The projects implemented by GIZ are co-financed by other states and international organizations, such as SIDA, SDC, the EU Delegation, the Government of Romania, other international institutions.
GIZ supports the complex processes of reforms and changes in developing countries and those in transition. All GIZ activities are oriented towards the sustainable improvement of people's living conditions and prospects.
The promotion of cooperation between the Government of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Moldova began in 1994. Since then, a number of important development projects have been implemented, which aimed to facilitate the transition process from a planned to a market economy.
