Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/ - The border authorities from Romania and Moldova enforced the coordinated control in the sense of entry in Romania starting from today morning.
The joint control implies ‘’single stop’’ on the Romanian side for all control procedures of the state border’s crossing.
According to the authorities, the establishment of the coordinated control of traffic will speed up and facilitate the crossing of the common border and this will shorten the waiting time for passengers, as well as for the transport of goods.
The difference from the earlier way of carrying out the control consists in the fact that the crossing will be made without control at the Leuseni Crossing Point in the direction of exit from Moldova. At the same time, the stop for verification will be made in the direction of entry in Romania at the Albita-road traffic Crossing Point, depending in the type of vehicle/control priority.
Five control lanes are meant for the international traffic of touring cars, mini-buses and coaches and another five lanes – for freight transport means.
On 13 April 2023, the regulation on the organization and work of the Albita Border Crossing Point was signed in the presence of the heads of the border police and customs authority from Moldova and Romania. This document contains the principles and rules of cooperation for the carrying out of the coordinated control of people, transport means and goods on the territory of Romania in the direction of entry in this country.
According to the technological norms, the control at the crossing of the border is made separately by the control staff of the exit country (Moldova), followed consecutively by the staff of the entry state (Romania), carried out on the territory of a single state.
The length of the border between Romania and Moldova is of about 681 km, with six state border crossing points, opened for the international traffic, operating.
In the first quarter of this year, the crossing points at the border with Moldova were transited by over 2 million people, both in the direction of entry and in the one of exit, in the first quarter of this year. A number of 755,000 of these people crossed through the Albita border crossing point.
