Moldova's Official Journal publishes regulation on management of waste coming from vehicles out of use

Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - The regulation on the management of waste coming from vehicles out of use was published in the today’s issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
Under the document, the components of vehicles out of use will be collected sorted, recycled, so that the environment is affected as little as possible.
The activities of treatment, turning to account and recycling of vehicles out of use will take place in several stages and the costs will be borne by producers and importers: starting from 1 January 2025, economic agents should ensure the reuse and the turning to account of 85 per cent of the average mass for all vehicles out of use; beginning with 1 January 2028, economic agents must ensure the reuse and turning to account of 95 per cent.
Data by the Environment Agency shows that, since 2014, decision-makers have been reporting a continuous increase in the share of touring cars older than 10 years. Thus, in 2014, 68.5 per cent out of all cars were older than 10 years and in 2018 their share grew up to 79.7 per cent.
The regulation will be enforced at the expiration of 12 months after the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal.
