Work of Council for Protection of Rights of the Child to be re-launched in Moldova till late next May

Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - The work of the Council for the Protection of the Rights of the Child will be re-launched till the end of next May. A decision to this effect has been announced at a meeting between Government’s Secretary General Artur Mija and Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Moldova Maha Damaj.
In discussions, the head of the State Chancellery thanked for the contribution brought by UNICEF to the process of social and educational integration of the children who had taken refuge from Ukraine, as well as for the efforts of strengthening the national system of children’s protection.
UNICEF’s Representative in Moldova Maha Damaj reconfirmed the organization’s support for ensuring the children’s rights and improving their access to quality services. Maha Damaj referred to priority actions within the UNICEF Programme in Moldova for the next five years, which envisage the educational inclusion of children with disabilities and children refugees, reformation of the juvenile justice, as well as the improvement of the hygienic and sanitary conditions in the education institutions.
The sides discussed aspects on the re-launch of the work of the Council for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, scheduled till the end of May 2023. On the Council’s platform, decision-makers will discuss the latest developments in the sector of children’s rights’ protection, measures of eradicating the poverty among minors, as well as the guaranteeing of the minimum social package to all children at risk.
