Chisinau, April 19 /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet approved today the denunciation of the Agreement on creation of interstate teleradio company, signed in Bishkek in 1992, and the Agreement on the guarantees of international law for the free and independent activity of Television and Radio Company MIR, signed in Ashgabat in 1993. In this context, the MIR representation in Moldova is to be written off as a legal entity in the registers of the State Registration Chamber, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"The denunciation of our country's participation in the activity of the MIR company will contribute to saving financial resources and will reaffirm Moldova's commitment to protect the national and regional audiovisual space, in order to ensure informational security", General Secretary of Government Artur Mija said.
Currently, the joint TV channels for the CIS area - Mir TV and Mir 24 do not hold a broadcast license issued by the Audiovisual Council and respectively, are not media service providers in Moldova.
The Chisinau authorities have recently refused to fund this TV channel. In 2000-2022, financial means of about 40.3 million lei were paid from the state budget to the Moldovan Representation of MIR company.
