Chisinau pleads for peaceful settlement of Transnistrian conflict - PM says

Chisinau, April 20 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean had a meeting with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Thomas Mayr-Harting. The officials talked about the security situation in the region and the current format of negotiations regarding the Transnistrian settlement, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"The Republic of Moldova will continue to ensure peace and security in the region, and the European path of the country does not present an impediment to the solution of the Transnistrian conflict. The Transnistrian conflict settlement will only be achieved peacefully," said Recean.
Recean pointed out the need to promote trust-building programs on both banks of the Dniester, including the economic and social sectors.
Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting appreciated the existing dialogue in the 1+1 negotiation format and reconfirmed the commitment of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in providing the necessary assistance for the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict.
