Regional elections in Gagauzia: CEC accredited another 19 international observers

Chisinau, April 21 /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today accredited 19 international observers to monitor the governor elections in Gagauzia and the partial elections for the People's Assembly on April 30.
According to the CEC, it is about the accreditation of one international observer from the Hungarian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, 13 - from the US Embassy, four - from the German Embassy and one observer from the Central Electoral Commission of Azerbaijan.
The CEC has previously accredited 34 other international observers to monitor the election. The deadline for applications for observer accreditation is April 22.
8 people are running for the position of bashkan of Gagauzia - Nicolai Dudoglo, Grigori Uzun, Mihail Formuzal, Victor Petrov, Dmitri Croitor, Serghei Cernev, Evghenia Guţul and Serghei Cimpoies.
The governor (bashkan) is the supreme official of the Gagauz-Yeri Territorial-Autonomous Unit. All the authorities of the public administration of the autonomy are subordinated to him. Governor elections are held once every four years.
