Mandate of current president of Moldova's Constitutional Court expires, new president of Court elected

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - Judge Nicolae Rosca has been elected president of the Constitutional Court (CCM). A decision to this effect was taken at a today’s plenary meeting of the High Court, after the mandate of CCM President Domnica Manole had expired.    

Under the Supreme Law, the judges of the Constitutional Court elect the CCM president by secret vote.    

The elected president of the Constitutional Court, Nicolae Rosca, was appointed CCM judge in 2019. He worked at the Law Faculty of the Moldovan State University (USM), holding, consecutively, the positions of lecturer, senior lecturer, university lecturer; he also acted as head of chair/head of the Private Law Department. Nicolae Rosca has the title of PhD in law and the scientific and didactic degree of university lecturer. He was also member of the Lawyers’ Union of Moldova, president of judges’ disciplinary college, member of the Consultative Scientific Council under the Supreme Court of Justice and held other relevant offices. Nicolae Rosca is author and co-author of over 75 didactic and scientific publications, including textbooks, monographs, commentaries on laws.            

The term of three years, for which Domnica Manole was elected president of the Constitutional Court, expired on 23 April 2023.
