Energocom returned 35 million euros from EBRD loan

Chisinau, April 26 /MOLDPRES/- Energocom company announced today that it has returned 35 million euros from the first installment of the loan taken from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) last year, which it was obliged to repay by 1 May.

The closing of the first installment of 100 million euros is scheduled for 1 July.

The loan under Security of natural gas supply project was used on 17 October 2022 -10 January 2023 for the diversification of natural gas procurement sources and the creation of strategic stocks, which did not exist until last autumn. The procurements, in two installments, were provided to prevent emergency situations.

Over 300 million cubic meters of gas were purchased with the borrowed money, within 130 rounds of auctions according to EBRD rules, with the participation of observers from legal institutions.

The loan taken by our country from the EBRD is of a revolving type, for a period of three years.
