Moldovan medical university's training centre in epidemiology endowed with modern equipment

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The training centre in epidemiology of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) has been endowed with 15 computers, five IT sets for teachers, three interactive tables and three TV sets. The equipment was bought with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the Health Ministry, at the centre, health system students and specialists will learn to use information systems, which allow monitoring, in real time, outbreaks of transmissible diseases and of public health events, epidemiological analysis of cases, as well as supervising the vaccination process; this will contribute to enforcing quick response measures, in order to prevent and control non-transmissible diseases.

According to the quoted source, public health specialists have an important role in the monitoring and assessing the indexes of supervising diseases, in order to establish the epidemiological situation nationally, both for the transmissible diseases and the non-transmissible ones.

The epidemiology department of USMF Nicolae Testemitanu annually trains up to 1,200 students and residents.
