Chisinau, April 27 /MOLDPRES/- On 1 June, 50 heads of state and government from Europe will participate in the European Political Community Summit at Castel Mimi winery in Anenii Noi district. President Maia Sandu made the statement today.
According to the president, on 1 June our country will host the European Political Community Summit, a symbolic moment that represents both international recognition for our country and a huge responsibility.
"On June 1, in the village of Bulboaca, at Castel Mimi winery our country will have the honor, for the first time, of hosting about 50 heads of state and government from Europe and officials of the European Union. We will debate vital issues related to war and peace, the future of Europe - the future of the 750 million people who work on the European continent. I mean, also about the future of the Republic of Moldova, as a European state that has chosen its path firmly in the EU. We work for this goal. We want to be an integral part of the European market, to sell more and more Moldovan products in EU countries, to connect to the European transport network, so that Moldovans can travel easier, cheaper and faster. We want to contribute to a better connected and more stable Europe. We want to demonstrate that we are a reliable partner, ready to actively contribute to strengthening unity and security on the European continent. For us, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the summit has a major significance. It is an international recognition, and an opportunity to strengthen our ties with European countries – with the free world. It is also a very clear message that Moldova is not alone", said Sandu.
The President said "the presence of the 50 European heads in Bulboaca will clearly say that Moldova has numerous and powerful friends, who support us in our desire to maintain peace and stability - at home, in the region and throughout the European continent".
"In these difficult times, when Russia continues to wage an inhumane war against Ukraine, the diplomatic support provided by this event is invaluable. European countries will not abandon the Republic of Moldova under any circumstances. Peace and democracy in our country will be protected. This event is also important for Moldova's European integration. The heads of the member states will be here, and they will know us better. For us it is an opportunity to show that we are a peaceful, hardworking and dignified people, aligned with European values. It is to your credit, to all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, from home and from the diaspora, that Europe will come to our home. This summit offers an exceptional opportunity to affirm our unequivocal commitment to the reforms we are carrying out to become – in the near future – a member country of the European Union. Thus, the summit represents an investment in the future of Moldova", Sandu said.
"All state institutions, at all levels, understand the value of this event. The success and pride of us, the Moldovans, following the summit depends on the contribution of each one of us, of all of us. The whole world will have the opportunity to see us as we are: humane, open-hearted, free-thinking and respectful towards those around us, confident in the future of our country. We will show that in the key moments of our history we know how to be united and brave. We have reason to be proud to host this historic meeting. In Paris, Vienna, Warsaw and Rome, in all the capitals, the Republic of Moldova will soon be discussed. Bulboaca will become the Moldovan town that hosted 50 European heads and prime ministers. From a gray area and unknown to many, Moldova will become the center of Europe on June 1. Let's all get involved to show that the Republic of Moldova is a democratic, solid, responsible state and dedicated to European integration. Moldova is a beautiful country. European Union will be richer with Moldova as part of it", the president said.
