Moldovan foreign affairs minister receives Ukrainian counterpart

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, has received his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, on a working visit to Chisinau, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
„I reiterated the condemnation of the unprovoked and illegitimate military aggression of Russia against Ukraine. I reconfirmed the support by Moldova of Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, within its internationally recognized borders. At the meeting, I stressed the importance of investigating the crimes of aggression against Ukraine and the calling to account of the people involved. Just as President Maia Sandu has said, Moldova backs the setting up of a Special International Tribunal for these crimes committed,’’ the Moldovan official said.
Since the first day of the war, Moldova has come to the assistance of its Ukrainian neighbours, through supporting refugees, providing supply routes to and from Ukraine and the country will continue providing support to this end, including through participation in the fulfillment of the Solidarity Corridors initiative.
In the context of the getting by Moldova and Ukraine of the status of countries candidates for accession to the European Union, the officials expressed joint interest in a closer interaction in the process of accession to EU, as well as bilaterally. In this respect, Minister Nicu Popescu welcomed the efforts of the Moldovan competent institutions for strengthening the cooperation in the railway infrastructure and energy sectors, including the diversification of the electricity sources for Moldova, with Ukraine’s help.
During his visit to Chisinau, the Ukrainian foreign affairs minister was received by President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
