About 354,000 residents from Transnistrian region hold Moldova's citizenship

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - About 354,000 residents from the Transnistrian region hold Moldova’s citizenship and almost 363,000 are recorded in the State Register of the Population.  

According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, on 31 March 2023, 362,926 residents with domicile on the left bank of Dniester and Bender municipality were registered in the State Register of the Population. As many as 353,877 of them had the citizenship of Moldova, 331,321 had passports of citizen of Moldova and 295,505 – identity cards.     

At the same time, during 1 January - 31 March this year, 869 residents from the Transnistrian region benefited from facilities at the issuance of the identity card of the citizen of Moldova and 168 – at the issuance of the temporary identity card.

The quoted source also said that, in the conditions of the simplified procedure of getting Moldova’s citizenship (based on the written consent and on the documents of civil status which show the birth on the territory of the country), 33,462 people were recognized as citizens of Moldova during the period 19 July 2018 – 31 March 2023, of whom 23,067 (about 69 per cent) are residents from the left bank of Dniester and Bender city, who have earlier got identity acts of citizen of Moldova.    

During the first quarter of this year, 2,197 people from the Transnistrian region asked for the certification of civil registry acts; as many as 2,340 civil registry acts were certified for them and 1,667 duplicates were issued following repeated addressings.
