Japan to support economic recovery of Moldova

Chisinau, May 10. /MOLDPRES/- Japan will offer the Republic of Moldova a preferential loan worth about 100 million dollars for the implementation of the Development policies for economic recovery project, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The financing will be carried out within the Economic Development and Recovery Program. Its objective is to support Government reforms and policies by mitigating the impact of the war in Ukraine on refugees and households, as well as ensuring the resilience and competitiveness of our country.
Government approved today at the initiative of the Ministry of Finance the draft decisions on the initiation of negotiations on the draft loan agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, as well as the Agreement with the Government of Japan on granting of a loan. It will be offered for a period of 40 years, including a grace period of 10 years.
The amount is to be received through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to be disbursed during this year, after the entry into force of the agreement.
The Japanese Government's decision to grant the loan to the Republic of Moldova was announced during the G7 leaders' conference on February 24.
