Moldovan PM says training of specialists in electronic sector to boost Moldova's economic development

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - The visions on Moldova’s integration into the international electronic industry, as well as the global tendencies for developing the sector have been presented at the second edition of the Electronic Forum in Moldova. Attending the opening of the event was Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The participants in the forum also announced the launch of an advanced laboratory at the headquarters of the Moldovan Technical University (UTM), where courses of training staff for the designing and verification of integrated circuits will be held, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.       

In his speech, the PM said that Moldova was going through a friendly period for the economy’s re-launch and the government was open to provide the support needed for boosting the development of the electronic field. Presently, the sector has over 200 companies with more than 16,000 employees and is one of the most promising as to the contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), creation of jobs and attraction of foreign investments.     

„Anything can be produced in Chisinau; it is up to us if we want to explore these opportunities. I am proud of the fact that much work is carried out at the Technical University of Moldova to train specialists in the electronic sector, information technologies, who are such much demanded on the labour market. Our specialists have a good education, are competitive in the sector and the products are appreciated in dozens of countries of the world,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.      

The prime minister made a tour of the UTM laboratory and discussed with the team of specialists the opportunities the lab would open for developing the electronic sector. The laboratory is endowed with 10 computers, equipment and licenced software, used for the designing and verification of integrated circuits.  

The MicroChipDesign laboratory was equipped within cooperation between UTM, the Association of Companies from the Electronic Industry (ACEM) and SafeLogic, with the financial support of the governments of Germany and Switzerland. The lab represents an important step for Moldova’s integration into the network of providers of services for producing integrated circuits.     

The second issue of the Electronic Forum brought together companies working in the electronic industry sector, national and international experts, representatives of the academic environment, who train future engineers and of central public authorities. The interactive format allows ensuring an open dialogue between the participants and highlights the perspectives of the electronic industry.
