Moldovan, Greek officials address economic relations

Chisinau, May 12. /MOLDPRES/- The head of diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, hosted at the MAIE Konstantinos Fragkogiannis, Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, who is leading an official delegation at the fourth meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, the MAEIE press service has reported.
"We welcomed the decision of the Greek side to open in the near future an office of the Greek embassy, aimed at boosting bilateral relations between our countries. We also discussed cooperation in the energy sector between the Republic of Moldova and Greece, as well as the need to foster economic relations", said the Moldovan official.
Popescu said our strategic goal is accession to the EU. In this context, he expressed gratitude for the constant support Greece provides in the modernization process of the Republic of Moldova and in our efforts to become part of the EU.
"I also mentioned the progress our country has made in implementing the nine recommendations of the European Commission. We rely on Greece's support in starting EU accession negotiations by late 2023," he said.
