Moldova, USA sign agreement on liberalization of air transport

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - The United States and Moldova today signed the Open Skies Agreement, which represents the first step for the liberalization of the air transport between the two countries.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma and Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Lilia Dabija signed the document.
„This is a significant moment, which is worth being celebrated, as we today establish modern relations in the aviation sector, which will prompt the air companies to provide more qualitative and efficient services. We consolidate cooperation relations which have already a strong basis of Moldovan-American collaboration,’’ Richard Verma said at the ceremony.
For her part, Lilia Dabija stressed that this event was meant to supplement the assistance of the United States for Moldova in various sectors. ‘’We were backed in the energy, sanitary, ecological, economic, cultural and other sectors and now the aviation’s turn has come. Thus, the air transport to/from USA will become much better,’’ the minister said.
The Open Skies Agreement symbolizes the first step towards the liberalization of the air transport between the two countries. Due to the agreement, stronger bilateral commercial and economic relations will be able to be established, and this will a substantial signal of the American support for Moldova’s continuous way to create a more open and more transparent business environment.
