Pre-Vetting Commission started assessment of non-judge candidates for positions in CSM

Chisinau, May 19 /MOLDPRES/- Pre-Vetting Commission announced today that it has started the evaluation procedure of non-judge candidates for positions in the CSM. The nine candidates, declared eligible by the Parliament to participate in the contest, are to fill out a declaration and the necessary documents in the next seven days.

Declaration for 5 years, according to art. 9 (2) of Law No26/2022 on some measures related to the selection of candidates for the position of member in the self-administration bodies of judges and prosecutors, includes information on the assets and personal interests of the candidates, as well as the list of close people from the judicial system, the prosecutor's office and the public service. Candidates who have not previously been subject to a declaration of assets and personal interests, must fill out declarations of assets and personal interests for each of the last five years.

After receiving the statements, the Pre-Vetting Committee will analyze the income and assets of the candidates and their families based on extensive research.

According to the decision of the legal committee on rules and immunities, dated May 5, the parliament submitted to the Pre-Vetting Committee the list of nine non-judge candidates for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy. Among them are freelance lawyers, lawyers and representatives of civil society and the academic environment, who will go through the financial and ethical integrity verification process of the Pre-Vetting Commission, in order to become eligible to hold a position as a permanent member of the CSM.
