EcoContact association represents Moldova at international forum on European Green Agenda

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the EcoContact Association today participated in an international conference titled, Improvement of climate resilience: Association of the European Green Deal with the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans through the Sustainable Development Goals and their indexes. The event was held in Podgorica (Montenegro).
The conference was organized by the Montenegrin Pan-European Union and brought together over 50 international experts, decision-makers, representatives of the business environment and civil society, in order to discuss challenges and opportunities dealing with the climate changes and sustainable development in the Western Balkans.
„At the same time, this meeting represented an important opportunity to facilitate the exchange of experience on the precious measures and lessons which can be taken over from the partner countries of the Pan-European Union, as well as a platform for the promotion of cooperation and exchange of good practices between the participants,’’ EcoContact said.
The participants in the discussions tackles the following subjects: Implementation of the European Green Deal and of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans; Association of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with the European Green Deal; sustainability indexes and measuring the progress made for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals; Innovation and green technologies in the promotion of sustainable development; Partnerships between the public sector and private one for promoting the sustainability.
The executive director of EcoContact, Natalia Guranda, presented Moldova’s progress as to the Sustainable Development Goals, Association Agreement, Paris Agreement and the Energy Treaty. She also gave as example the role of the civil society organizations in the transposing of the national climate changes policies locally, as well as the experience of the Aarhus environment information and consultancy centre in Moldova in this respect.
