Moldovan PM attends first session of General Assembly of Council of Local Authorities of Moldova and Romania

Chisinau, May 20. /MOLDPRES/- The Republic of Moldova hosted the first session of the General Assembly of the Council of Local Authorities of Moldova and Romania. It aims to exchange experience between the city halls of the two countries, strengthen local autonomy and develop joint projects for the benefit of the citizens of both states, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that through collaboration, we increase the capacity of local public authorities in our country to provide quality public services and strengthen cooperation between the villages and cities of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, speeding up the transfer of experience, managing European funds and training programs.
"A closer relationship between the localities on both banks of the Prut will bring more prosperity and an increase in social and economic activity. This commitment is also part of our European integration agenda. We want the citizen to feel the real transformations in the community and it is a good opportunity to exchange experience between the central and local administration. The newly created council will bring more cooperation at the local level and complement the already existing dynamic agenda of the governments of Chisinau and Bucharest", Recean said.
Tatiana Badan, president of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, said "by consolidating the efforts of the three associations from the Republic of Moldova and Romania, we will offer additional opportunities and develop joint projects, and the close cooperation relations between local authorities, based on the community of history, language and culture will be boosted. We will promote the mutual protection of the rights and interests of local authorities within the European institutions, including for the identification of funding sources".
