Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - The lawyer of the Shor Political Party and MP Marina Tauber have described the ruling on the unconstitutionality of the concerned formation as ‘’abusive and unprecedented.’’
Lawmaker Marina Tauber stressed that the Constitutional Court’s (CCM) ruling created a ‘’dangerous precedent.’’ ‘’We are the first country of Europe where an opposition party is dissolved. I am sure that other formations will be liquidated too. Even if the legal status is liquidated, our team stays strong and consolidated. There are already more formulas for us to continue working. The subsequent decisions will be announced by the party’s president, Ilan Shor,’’ Marina Tauber said.
At the same time, the lawyer of the Shor Political Party described the ruling as ‘’abusive and illegal.’’
The Constitutional Court declared the Shor Political Party unconstitutional today. Under the ruling, the formation is regarded as dissolved. ‘’No act of the party issued ahead of the Court’s ruling has legal power. The Justice Ministry will nominate a commission for the party’s liquidation, which will undertake all measures needed for its liquidation and erasing from the state register of legal entities.’’ CCM President Nicolae Rosca said.
Rosca stressed that the representatives of the Shor Political Party in parliament would continue exercising their mandates, but in capacity of independent MPs, without right to affiliate with other parliamentary factions, just as the local authorities.
The process of consideration was initiated based on a notification submitted by the government to CCM, according to which the cabinet asked for the verification of the constitutionality of the Shor Political Party. The court sessions started on 10 May 2023. During these sessions, evidence was set forth, according to which the Shor Political Party would have bribed voters and participants in protests, as well as would have organized voters’ carriage. The Shor Political Party’s representatives turned down the assertions, describing them as ‘’political’’.
During the pronouncing of the ruling, backers of the Shor Political Party staged a protest outside the Constitutional Court’s building.
