Subsidies in agriculture to be granted accelerated by late July

Chisinau, June 21. /MOLDPRES/- Subsidies in agriculture will be granted to beneficiaries in an accelerated procedure by late July. At the same time, the government analyzes the difficulties in the agricultural sector and takes all the necessary measures to identify solutions. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement after today's cabinet meeting, in the context of the protest organized by farmers in the center of the capital.

"The government has already offered immediate solutions. The agricultural subsidy fund, worth 1.5 billion lei, was supplemented with another 100 million lei and will be 1.6 billion lei. All these grants will be disbursed earlier this year. If previously it was until December, now we will disburse them until the end of July", Recean said.

The prime minister said "what the farmers are asking for today means at least 700 million lei". "Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Bolea presented in Brussels the calculations necessary for the EU to possibly help with this situation. Today we will discuss with farmers further what we can do more than that. Today, there are more than 330 million lei available to farmers, which they can use from the VAT account. This is what the Government is undertaking at the moment, but it is important to overcome this crisis together, because farmers and the socially-vulnerable people and teachers and other categories in the business environment are also going through this. I am sure we will find a rational solution together with the farmers. The government understands the difficulties in the agricultural sector and is taking all the necessary steps so that we can meet the demands", he said.

Several farmers came yesterday with tractors to the center of the capital and organized a protest action. They are dissatisfied with the situation in the agricultural field.
