Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union has ruled to allocate 250 million euros for financing projects on the improvement of the cross-border connections between Ukraine, Moldova and their EU neighbours – Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.
The money allocated is part of a more ample programme of the European Union, which includes 107 transport infrastructure projects from the entire Europe, which will receive grants on behalf of EU worth more than 6 billion euros, the European Commission has informed in a press release.
„Today, we earmark 6.2 billion euros for projects from the entire Europe, which will get us closer to the finishing of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), the vertebral column of EU. I am happy particularly that 250 million euros will improve the cross-border connections between Ukraine, Moldova and their neighbours from EU, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. These projects will facilitate the transport of goods between EU and Ukraine, thus consolidating the solidarity corridors,’’ European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean said.
Those 107 projects were selected in response to the demand for projects published in 2022. The EU’s financing will have the form of grants, which will be used for con-financing the overall costs of the project.
