Moldovan parliament speaker to pay official visit to Brussels

Chisinau, 2 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, will pay an official visit to Brussels on 3-5 July 2023.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, Igor Grosu will meet European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, with whom he will give a news conference. At the European Parliament, Igor Grosu will give a speech at the hearings organized on the platform of the Moldova-EU Association Parliamentary Committee and will discuss with the co-president of the EU-Moldova Association Parliamentary Committee, Siegfried Muresan.
The parliament speaker has also scheduled meetings with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira, more European lawmakers.
The visit’s agenda includes also meetings with the leadership of Belgium’s parliament: President of the Chamber of Representatives Eliane Tillieux, President of the Senate Stephanie D’Hose. A meeting with NATO’s Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana will be followed by press statements.
The visit’s agenda also comprises a meeting of the parliament speaker with Moldovan citizens who live, study or work in Belgium. The discussions will take place at the headquarters of Moldova’s Embassy in Brussels on 4 July.
Also on 3-5 July, a group of Moldovan MPs will pay a study visit to the European Parliament on the process of accession to EU. The visit takes place within the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Parliament and Moldova’s parliament, signed in November 2021. The concerned programme includes trainings, including online ones, study visits, probations.
